Love love looooved this scene too!  Especially the “May I?”.  Not necessarily because he did anything wrong, but because it really shows how much he respects her space, and he knows he’s trudging on sensitive ground. He gave her room to back out, blow him off again, but just like 2x01, two simple words (“I’m sorry.”) can make all the difference, and he’s learned from past mistakes not to push, but instead to ask and be patient.
